Sprengel Deformity

Presentation and Findings: 17 year old male presented for evaluation of scoliosis where physical exam showed high riding medially rotated scapula with similar findings demonstrated on chest radiograph.

Key Points: Sprengel deformity is a rare disorder, congenital variant, in which the scapula is high riding on one side of the body. The affected abnormal scapula is also connected to spine abnormally, often restricting movement of the shoulder.
