Summary:
- Numerous nails are seen on this KUB (abdominal radiograph) as ingested by patient. Multiple foreign bodies project over expected location of the stomach, duodenum, and more distal small bowel loops.
Key points:
- Look for free air to ensure no foreign body has resulted in perforation
- Additional imaging with CT may be warranted to exclude perforation, free air, abscess (if signs of infection), and other complications
- Serial imaging to ensure transit through GI tract may be helpful in monitoring
