Key Points: Bipartite patella is usually discovered as an incidental finding on knee radiographs in asymptomatic individuals or symptomatic individuals (for another totally different reason!). Only a minority of patients of bipartite patella experience symptoms directly related to this normal congenital variant. Look for well corticated appearance of the accessory fragment especially on the sunrise / skyline view.
